    Lewis Wallace

    Writer, editor and multimedia journalist | USA Speaker

    BIO

    Lewis Wallace is an independent writer, editor and multimedia journalist. He previously worked for public radio's Marketplace in the New York bureau. Prior to that, he was the economics reporter and managing editor at WYSO Public Radio in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and he got his start in radio as a Pritzker Journalism Fellow at WBEZ in Chicago. He covers the environment, the economy, poverty, science, race and gender, and he blogs and tweets about journalism and identity. His work focuses on the voices of people who are geographically, economically and politically marginalized, and it has won many local and national awards.

    Lewis graduated from Northwestern University summa cum laude with a degree in religion and history. Before becoming a news hound, he worked as a community organizer, barista and sex educator. He's from Michigan with roots in South Carolina. Lewis is transgender and goes by "he," "they," or "ze."
